In 1974, after nearly 20 years with one of the largest tyre distributors in the UK, Peter Redpath brought his considerable experience in tyres home to the borders by creating his own family business based in Kelso. Specialising in tyres and batteries customers can expect to receive personal attention and prompt service for all their tyre requirements. That was the first press statement issued in 1974 and that same company ethos exists today. 30 years on, Peters' sons Graham and Neil co-direct the company now headquartered in Duns. Although the company has expanded greatly since those early days it has never lost sight of that original focus which remains the core function of the business. Personal attention and prompt service. The intention in the early days for Peter was to provide 24 hour service, 7 days a week across the range from car to truck to agricultural. The formula was such a success that within three years a second depot at Duns was opened followed by a third at Wooler another three years after that. In 1987 Peter acquired Newlife tyres allowing the borders family business to take a share in the lucrative city market available in Edinburgh. Off shoots of the core business now include part worn earthmover and agricultural tyres as well as the 3 r's. Repairing, Remoulding and Recycling. Redpath Tyres are now one of the largest processors of Waste tyres. However, not content to simply process tyres for chipping as an alternative fuel we offer a recycling process. A full 'cradle to grave' approach to tyre management. We offer an in-house vulcanised tyre repair facility returning damaged tyres (when applicable) to full servicability. Be it Car, Van, Truck, Implement, tractor or earthmover all repairs are carried out to BSA U159F standards. Result Recycling and saving resources Using the correct fitment on each application is paramount. Our Rocklug Truck Remould Range offers the lowest cost per kilometre of any tyre range. By using specific tyres tailored to specific applications, we can guarantee best value with reduced downtime. Result Maximum tyre and vehicle efficiency When the full life of the tyre has been utilised the casings are remoulded and returned for further service. Multiple remoulding of the used casings is possible as a result of the top quality materials used in the original construction of the tyres. Result the most environmentally sound system for the reuse of worn casings. The final chapter Scrap tyres are processed at our Duns premises. Bead wires are remoulded and recycled using our patented de-beader (the only machine in the UK). Tyres are then transported the short distance to Lafarge Cement at Dunbar where they are chipped and used in the cement kilns as an alternative to fossil fuels. It's not just the machinery for the farm or business that Redpath's can equip. It's the indispensable 4x4 vehicles that are required today on most farms and have become a status accessory in the towns and cities. With Neil co-directing the company his passion for 4X4 is evident. Through his technical knowledge and first hand experience of some very interesting and arduous terrain, he knows what is best. Whether it be for the urban road use or that vital winter trek up a valley to find lost livestock. Looking at the geographical coverage of the company Graham and Neil decided that in order to completely service the area from north Northumberland to Edinburgh and the Central Belt, a depot in East Lothian was essential. In 2002 that vision became a reality with the opening of a depot in Haddington.. Ongoing development is a constant factor in the business but not to the detriment of the customers. Our commitment to the best service possible is paramount
to our ongoing business. . |
